$25,000 combined single limit
The UD-7 dealer certificate specifies $25,000 CSL. Oklahoma’s general road-use liability minimum is separately $25,000/$50,000/$25,000; a policy must also satisfy the requirements for actual vehicle use.

Bond requirementsIn Oklahoma, insurance and licensing requirements depend on your dealer category. Independent used-auto, wholesale, broker, RV, motorcycle, truck and boat businesses can have different requirements. Confirm your license category with Oklahoma Used Motor Vehicle, Dismantler, and Manufactured Housing Commission.
Insurance and proof of coverage
Used-dealer certificate minimum: $25,000 combined single-limit bodily injury and property damage liability.

UM, UIM and medical coverage
BI means bodily injury. PD means property damage. For example, 25/50 BI means $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident.
- Uninsured motorist (UM)
- May be rejected in writing
- Underinsured motorist (UIM)
- Part of UM; may be rejected
- PIP / first-party medical
- Not required
The $25,000 CSL figure is the used-dealer certificate requirement. It does not replace the general motor vehicle financial-responsibility requirement of $25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 per accident and $25,000 property damage for road use.
UM includes underinsured-motorist protection and may be rejected in writing. If selected, the minimum bodily injury limits are $25,000 per person/$50,000 per accident.
Agency UD-7 certificate, matching ownership, business name and lot address.
Your lease, lender or exposure to a serious accident may call for higher limits. Garage liability does not automatically insure the value of inventory or customers’ vehicles.
The dealer bond is a separate requirement
Dealer surety bond; secondary locations require separate bond
The bond amount is its face amount, not the price you pay. A surety prices the bond separately, and you may have to reimburse it for claims it pays. A dealer bond does not replace garage liability or inventory insurance. You can add a bond quote to the dealer insurance application.
State licensing fees
| State fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Used dealer application fee listed in agency packet Packet lists an older manual application process; confirm the payable fee in the Commission's new live licensing platform. | $600 |
| Secondary location application fee in agency packet Confirm in live portal. | $200 |
These state fees are separate from insurance and bond premiums. Other licensing and startup expenses may apply. Confirm the payable amount in the current state application or portal.
A practical filing detail
Have the agent complete the Commission’s UD-7 certificate. It calls for the correct ownership, business name and lot address. A generic certificate may leave out the required details.
What does dealer insurance cost in Oklahoma?
The dealer certificate limit and the road-use liability requirement should both be addressed in the policy. For inventory coverage, outdoor storage and wind/hail deductibles are especially useful comparison points. Dealer-plate use, claims history and driver records also matter.
